"Stupid Girls" P!nk
I love P!nk's songs because they encourage women to be strong and she is not afraid to talk about pertinent issues, especially around women's role in society.
In this music video, "Stupid Girls," at 1:58, Ed makes a guest appearance, specifically with Mia. While this music video emphasizes how "stupid" these actions are, I liked the overall message and the fact that eating disorders was brought up. So many girls in their teens struggle with appearance and turn to drastic measures to make sure they are "perfect." Unfortunately, they loose sight of what is important.
What I also liked about this video is the emphasis on the role of the media in the very beginning of the music video. P!nk shows us how influential the media could be on a little girl, what she could turn into. If there were more positive messages about body image in the media, maybe young girls would pick up a football instead of a disproportionate Barbie doll every once in a while.
Do you think that viewing more positive body image messages in the media to young children could reduce the cases of eating disorders?
